Formation history
Nunukan
Nunukan is one of the
districts of the province of East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The capital of the
district is located in the town of Nunukan. The district has an area of
14,493 km ² and a population of as many as 109,527 lives (2004). Nunukan
motto is "Penekindidebaya" which means "Building area" that
comes from Tidung. Nunukan also the name of a district in Nunukan, East
Kalimantan Province, Indonesia.
In 2003 a massive
humanitarian tragedy in Nunukan when illegal workers from Indonesia who work in
Malaysia deported back to Indonesia through Nunukan.
Nunukan harbor is a
port city traffic with Tawau, Malaysia. For residents of the city who want to
go to Nunukan Tawau diperlkan document PLB (Transboundary Pas). Every day an
average of about 8 units of fast boats with a capacity of about 100 people back
and forth between Nunukan to Tawau Malaysia.
In the city of Tawau
alone many people of Indonesia (WNI either / or citizens of Malaysia) from
Indonesia, especially from Bugis tribes Bone.
History of the
formation of the district
Nunukan is a division
of Bulungan area, formed by the regions of extensive consideration, an increase
in the development and improvement of services to the community. Proliferation
bulungan district is in pioneered by RA Besing who at the time served as regent
Bulungan.
In 1999, the central
government imposed a regional autonomy on the basis of Law No. 22 of 1999 on
Regional Government. Well, this is done with the basic division in Bulungan
into 2 other new districts namely Nunukan and Malinau.
Expansion of the
district is legally regulated in Law Number 47 Year 1999 on the establishment
of Nunukan Malinau District, East Kutai regency, West Kutai regency, and
Bontang on October 4, 1999. And on the basis of Law No. 47 of 1999 the Official
Nunukan into five districts with the assistance of the district administrative
area Lumbis, Sembakung, Nunukan, Sebatik and Krayan.
Expansion of the
district
On July 17, 2007, in
the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives has approved the formation
of a new district that Tidung Tana, which is the division of the territory and
Bulungan Nunukan. Of Nunukan, sub Sembakung moved into new districts, while the
Bulungan, moved three districts, namely Sesayap, Sesayap Downstream and Land
Lia.
District Officials
Along with the
establishment of the official inauguration was conducted pulah Regent Nunukan
namely Drs. Bustaman Arham, precisely on October 12, 1999 in Jakarta. After the
inauguration of Regents Nunukan, conducted preparatory arrangement of the
regions and the establishment of the Council of Representatives (DPRD) was also
prepared.
Dated December 25,
1999, 14 people sworn officers of the echelon II, III, IV to fill structural
position. Three days after the inauguration of the structural position exactly
on December 28th, 1999 followed by the inauguration of the 20 members of the
Legislative Council of Regional Representatives Nunukan General Election
results in 1999. The legislator is from Golkar, PDIP, PPP and PAN.
Regent Selection
Although still faced
many obstacles infrastructure and superstructure Nunukan government has started
running normally. This opportunity was used by the local government to conduct
the election definitively through paripurnah parliament session. Precisely on
11 April 2001.
On the occasion arose
three candidates, including couples Drs.H. Bustaman Arham - H. Ali Karim,
Drs.H. Aseng Gusti Nuch - H. Arsyad Talib, SE and H. Ahmad Abdul Hafid - Drs.
Kasmir Foret, MM. Of 3 couples ahead, the pair elected H. Ahmad Abdul Hafid -
Drs. Kasmir Foret, MM as regent and deputy regent Nunukan period from 2001 to
2006. And this couple Inaugurated on May 30, 2001.
