HISTORY OF ESTABLISHMENT CITY YOGYAKARTA
The existence of Yogyakarta City can not escape the presence of
Yogyakarta Sultanate. Mangkubumi prince fighting for the sovereignty of the
kingdom of Mataram from Dutch influence, the younger brother of Sunan Paku
Buwana II. After a long struggle, on Thursday 29th Rabiulakhir Kliwon 1680 or

Kabanaran Majesty signed the Giyanti or often called Nagari Palihan. Palihan
Nagari which is the starting point of the existence of Yogyakarta Sultanate. It
was then that His Majesty Kabanaran then titled Sri Sultan Abdurrahman Buwana
Senopati Ing Ngalaga Sayidin Panatagama Kalifatullah Ingkang Jumeneng Kaping I.
After this Giyanti Agreement, Sri Sultan Buwana mesanggrah in Ambarketawang
while waiting on the physical development of the kingdom.
A month after the signing of the Treaty precisely Giyanti
Thursday Pon on 29 Jumada 1680 or March 13, 1755, Sultan Buwana I proclaimed
the establishment of the Sultanate with capital Ngayogyakarta Ngayogyakarta and
have half of the territory of the Kingdom of Mataram. Proclamation is happening
in Pesanggrahan Ambarketawang and called Nagari Dalem Hadeging events Sultanate
of Mataram - Ngayogyakarta. On Thursday Pon 3rd sura 1681 or coincide with the

Development capital of Yogyakarta Sultanate takes one year. On
